Though it may not be as captivating as the first two books in the series, this latest installment still offers an interesting story that will enthrall fans of the previous books as well as draw in new readers who are just learning about Elena and Stefan and their supernatural world in Mystic Falls, Virginia.Brief Summary of Book: Midnight (The Vampire Diaries: The Return, #3) by L.J. Smith has always been one of my favorite teen series, so it’s no surprise that Midnight was a book I simply couldn’t put down from the moment I started reading it. It picks up right where the TV show ended with Elena back in Mystic Falls as well as Damon and Bonnie away at Whitmore College when they all receive mysterious text messages to meet in Founder’s Square in five minutes. In Midnight, Elena finds herself separated from her friends-but not from Stefan Salvatore, her love interest throughout the series. The reason this novel is such an exciting read is that it continues Elena Gilbert’s story after the Requiem novel that concluded the original story that began in book one, The Awakening. If you’re a fan of the show, then it should be clear to you why I’m so excited about this novel after all, who doesn’t want to read even more about Klaus and Caroline? Smith, The Return: Midnight is the third book in The Vampire Diaries series of novels, taking place between Season 5 and 6 of the TV show it was adapted from (The Vampire Diaries).
